51s In Quarters

July 2012 - 51 In Quarters, LACoFD Station 127 (aka "51"), Carson, CA

On August 8, 2008 we retrieved the second Engine 51 from Yosemite National Park. They had used it since the 1980s and had taken great care of it. In 2012, the museum spent many hours and thousands of dollars to get the Ward back to its 1970s appearance when it starred as Engine 51. See the Restoration Page for more information.

GENEROUS DONOR FOR E51 RESTORATION

It has been a few years since we completed the restoration of Engine 51, but we have not reached our goal of $50,000 in donations for the cost. Now our money is spent maintaining it along with our other apparatus. We had a generous donation yesterday from a Museum friend, Colleen Burks, that just made our day! Thank you Colleen for thinking of us! We still have over $30,000 left to raise to help us get back some of what we spent on E51. Well worth it? ... YES!
